Hello Everyone,
I am a realtively new user of flight gear. I am running flightgear 0.9.3 on windows xp using the precompiled binaries that I downloaded. I was successfully using it with SaitekST90 joystick which is basically a standard 3axis 3 button joystick. I was trying to change the defaults of buttons using fgjs.exe in Bin/Win32 folder I think I messed up something and due to this flightgear just wont see the joystick attached any more.

I can see that ball other programs can use the joystick and even js_demo.exe can see and responds to the joystick. Can anybody suggest me what I should be looking into?

regards,
Aditya

I can't see a joystick config file for the ST90 in the /input/joystick
folder at all.

Thats right..there is no config file for ST90 in /data/input/jpystick/saitek folder. But in this case
once ( and if) flight gear detects joystick, it should alternatively use the default configuration file
of 3 button 3 axis joystick from location /data/input/joystick/default. This used to work fine.

I have checked the default file, which is all right. I can even use the executible fsjs.exe to assign
axis to controls( I believe this create .js file in the same folder). The joystick becomes useless as
soon as the simulator starts.

When you run fgjs.exe, it should output a file called fgfsrc.js. This
is just a text file with a bunch of --prop statements. As far as I
know, FlightGear does not check this file at all. If you want to use
the new configuration, you should copy everything in fgfsrc.js and paste
it into FlightGear\data\system.fgfsrc file. (You might want to delete
any --prop statements that are currently in that file).

The other option is to make an .xml file for your joystick. Since the
default file worked, you could use it as a starting template
(Flightgear\data\Input\Joysticks\Default\joystick.xml). If you want to
do that let me know and I'll give you more info.
